Millions of Americans Project Recap Dear Americans, Since it's birth a little over two years ago, MillionsofAmericans.com has collected and delivered over one million petitions and letters! Together we were a powerful voice in Washington in our first year, and that only increased in our second. For those of you unfamiliar with our activities, let me recap our past projects: Shortly after the November 2000 election, we launched Election Integrity 2000 to preserve and protect the fair election results in Florida. For two weeks we collected petitions to Clay Roberts and Katherine Harris asking them to stand fast and Certify the Bush Victory in their state. Altogether, we delivered over 335,000 petitions! When the election results were finally certified and Al Gore still refused to concede defeat, we launched a new campaign -- this time we collected Letters to Al Gore from people all over the country demanding that he concede. We collected and delivered over 282,000 letters to Al Gore's office. During the first one hundred days of Bush's presidency, we collected petitions to the U.S. Senate supporting President Bush's nominee for Attorney General -- John Ashcroft. Over 262,000 Americans signed this petition. The Ashcroft petitions were delivered during a news conference on Capitol Hill with Minority Leader Trent Lott.: Since then, we have been involved in a variety of local and national projects. When Sen. Jesse Helms announced his plans to retirer, we posted a "Thank You" card and collected over 23,000 signatures. It was presented to him at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) My brother Bob, and our MillionsofAmericans.com webmaster, Jordan Gehrke presented the senator with the card and thanked him for his service. When Rush Limbaugh announced the news of his struggle to hear, over 60,000 of you signed a card for giving him your best wishes. The card, and your electronic signatures were bundled up and sent to Rush. On the local front in 2001, MillionsofAmericans.com was also very involved in elections. We have been active in California, New Jersey, and Virginia. This year, MillionsofAmericans.com worked in California for Bill Simon in the Republican Primary for Governor, and also with Ward Connerly and his California Racial Privacy Initiative. We also worked on efforts in Alabama and Michigan to limit the expansion of Casinos. Not to mention our efforts for Brett Schundler in New Jersey during the 2001 Republican Primary. We have had great success with a petition to defend the Pledge of Allegiance. We didn't stop there though. We continued well into 2002, playing an active role in the midterm elections, working on nearly a dozens different races, at the federal, state, and local levels. We said last year that we would support the President, and we did, by not only supporting his agenda, but by forwading a letter from him at the end of the last election cycle. Probably our most successfull project was defending the egregious attack on the Pledge of Allegiance by a liberal California appeals court that ruled that the term "Under God" must be stricken from it. We had a tremendous response as over 100,000 of you signed the petition, and the decision was swiftly reversed soon-after. Now the GOP has a historic opportunity to lead with control of both houses of Congress, and the White House. This is not the time to back down. Republicans need to lead now more than ever, and to implement the type of sweeping vision for America that Ronald Reagan began, and President Bush is embracing even today. There is still a great deal of work to be done, but together, we've already done a great deal. I am confident that as long as citizens like you and I remain faithful to our cause, and tireless in our efforts, that together, we will prevail. For America, Bruce Eberle
